Cornerhouse Project, Whitehaven

January sees the launch of CASS’ ‘Corner House’ project based in Whitehaven.  

Although CASS has managed the property for a number of years, we have now had the opportunity to change the use of the property significantly. We are now able to provide higher levels of ‘on site’ support to people who have had substance misuse and offending problems.

The scheme has been funded by Cumbria Supporting People Team and provides a much needed resource in the Copeland area. CASS has worked in partnership with substance misuse agencies for some time and has noticed significant increases in people with substance misuse and offending problems accessing our services.
 
The project consists of 3 self contained flats within a period Georgian building with a new office on site. Residents will receive increased support from CASS Project Workers and a Team Leader managing the scheme. We will also provide floating support to a service user through our funded ‘outreach’ unit.
 
Our Approach
 
We are committed to providing a multi-agency, person-centred support package to our service users to enable them to both lead their support and achieve their aims and goals. We believe that this will achieve the best outcomes for our service users and allow us the opportunity to build on our good relationships with local statutory, non-statutory and voluntary organisations.
